High school can be a difficult experience for some kids, which could lead to isolation, mental health issues, and aggressive behavior,. I worked with The Cor Foundation, a non-profit working on the prevention of violence at schools across the United States to explore a way to bring positive change into the high school culture. The Cor Foundation facilitates student-led workshops — one of which is called Building Caring Actions. Building Caring Actions is a research-based approach that increases the performance of caring actions based on particular character strengths (i.e., gratitude, courage) and reducing aggressive behaviors. Step Up was an app they created to encourage this behavior both outside of these workshops and across a wider audience (the whole school).
